Ron DeSantis Responds To Trump In New York Post Interview

Ron DeSantis is planning to challenge Donald Trump for the GOP nomination.

But while DeSantis is not yet officially in the race the campaign is well underway.

And now Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on Donald Trump with one shocking response.

As Conservative Revival reports:

DeSantis gives very few interviews to the fake news media.

But with DeSantis on the verge of jumping into the 2024 election DeSantis granted a sit-down interview to liberal British journalist Piers Morgan.

In the interview DeSantis previewed how he planned to run against Donald Trump.

On COVID DeSantis sought to cast himself to Trump’s right by saying he would have fired Dr. Fauci, who DeSantis correctly said nearly destroyed the country with his edicts.

“Well I think there’s a few things. The approach to COVID was different. I would have fired somebody like Fauci. I think he got way too big for his britches, and I think he did a lot of damage,” DeSantis began.

DeSantis did not go after Trump on the lockdowns because DeSantis kept restrictions in place in Florida until September of that year even though DeSantis was among the first governors to begin lifting their lockdown orders in early May of 2020.

Another contrast DeSantis sought to make was telling Morgan that he only hires people to work in his administration who share his vision.

“I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership, I get personnel in the government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda in, you’re gone. We’re just not gonna have that. So, the way we run the government, I think, is no daily drama, focus on the big picture and put points on the board, and I think that’s something that’s very important,” DeSantis added.

This stood in stark comparison to Donald Trump who often hired big names he saw on Fox like John Bolton, General James Mattis, or RINOs like Mark Esper and Nikki Haley.

By making these poor hires, Donald Trump invited the swamp into his administration and undermined Trump’s “America First” agenda.

DeSantis also laughed off the “Ron DeSanctimonious” nickname Trump’s been using to differentiate himself from DeSantis by saying all he cared about was being called a winner, a dig at Trump over the fact that DeSantis — unlike Trump — won re-election.

“I don’t know how to spell the sanctimonious one. I don’t really know what it means, but I kinda like it, it’s long, it’s got a lot of vowels. We’ll go with that, that’s fine. I mean you can call me whatever you want, just as long as you also call me a winner because that’s what we’ve been able to do in Florida, is put a lot of points on the board and really take this state to the next level,” DeSantis continued.

DeSantis then took a dig at Trump by implying Trump ran a cult of personality.

“Let’s put the country first rather than worry about any personalities or any type of individual . . . at the end of the day, I’m a vessel for the aspirations of the people I represent. It’s not about me, as Ronald Reagan said, ‘there’s no limit to what you can accomplish if you don’t care who gets the credit,’” DeSantis concluded.

DeSantis attacking Trump in an interview with a liberal journalist at a time when Democrat and Soros-backed prosecutors are preparing to arrest Donald Trump did not sit well with Trump supporters.

Donald Trump Jr. fired back at DeSantis on social media.

“Just as radical Dems are indicting Trump & destroying the fabric of our nation with their Police State tactics, DeSantis pathetically runs to the liberal media on orders from his RINO establishment owners to attack my father. He’s exposing himself as 100% Controlled Opposition!” Trump Jr. posted on Twitter.

Ron DeSantis is not yet a declared candidate for office.

And already it is open warfare between the Trump and DeSantis camps.
