The Biden administration has been plagued by incompetence and unpopularity, and Democrats are worried that it’s going to drag down Kamala Harris’s performance in the November election.
That’s why her advisers have been warning her to keep a cautious distance from Joe Biden between now and then.
The latest to point this out is David Axelrod, who was famous for being one of Obama’s top advisers during his presidency.
David Axelrod Notices That Harris Isn’t Mentioning Biden
Axelrod says that Harris is trying to “declare her independence” from Biden in order to avoid any of the political baggage that Biden brings with.
But Joe Biden might be surprised to hear that the person he picked as his vice president, despite her own political baggage, is now doing this to him.
According to Breitbart, “During CNN’s coverage of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, CNN Senior Political Commentator and former Obama Adviser David Axelrod stated that it was ‘really interesting how little’ 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris mentioned President Joe Biden during her speech before the convention that night and stated that the speech was, in some ways, ‘her declaration of independence.’”
Here is what Axelrod had to say: “[T]he last point, I wanted — Scott, to your point about Biden and the strategy of the Republicans — which I understand it to be — a reasonable strategy, [is] to try and saddle her with some of the negatives that Biden has, it is really interesting how little she mentioned Joe Biden in this speech. In certain ways, this was her declaration of independence. And she became her own person in this speech. And I’ve told you before, we’ll see how this turns out, I think you’re going to have a hard time saddling her in the way that you guys are hopeful that you can.”
This is probably a smart move by Kamala Harris and the fact she feels the need to do this says a lot about Biden.
Despite claims that his administration has been a wildly successful one, the track record points to the opposite.
His approval ratings are low and people clearly do not want to be associated with him – not even his own Vice President.
But it’s one that will have Biden and his loyalists up in arms.
They think Harris owes everything to Biden and should have respect for him and his “accomplishments.”
But she is going to do what is best for her campaign.
And that’s the clearest evidence yet that the American people just do not view him as a successful president.
