The media keeps losing in their fight against Donald Trump.
Liberals were left groaning.
And Donald Trump was jumping for joy after one fake news outlet waved the white flag of surrender.
As American Media Watchdog reports:
ABC News Has to Pay Big Money to Trump
Donald Trump has said for years that the media has been unfair on their reporting of him to the point of bordering on slander.
These claims have long been scoffed at by leading liberals and members of the media, but Trump just made a deal with one liberal media outlet and it proves he’s been right all along.
ABC News desperately wanted to settle their case with Trump and were willing to go to extreme lengths to make it go away.
Now they will apparently be funding Trump’s presidential library.
This is a huge development and it’s safe to assume that ABC execs weren’t hoping to donate to Trump’s library.
But the fact they didn’t choose to let it play out in court is telling.
Money Will Go Towards Trump’s Presidential Library
According to the Associated Press, “ABC News has agreed to pay $15 million toward Donald Trump’s presidential library to settle a defamation lawsuit over anchor George Stephanopoulos’ inaccurate on-air assertion that the president-elect had been found civilly liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll.”
“As part of the settlement made public Saturday, ABC News posted an editor’s note to its website expressing regret over Stephanopoulos’ statements during a March 10 segment on his ‘This Week’ program. The network will also pay $1 million in legal fees to the law firm of Trump’s attorney, Alejandro Brito.”
Stephanopoulos made a huge mistake and now his employer has to pay the price for it.
He should have checked his facts before making such a strong accusation on the air that turned out to be false.
“The settlement agreement describes ABC’s presidential library payment as a ‘charitable contribution,’ with the money earmarked for a non-profit organization that is being established in connection with the yet-to-be built library,” the Associated Press reports.
“The settlement agreement was signed Friday, the same day a Florida federal judge ordered Trump and Stephanopoulos to sit for separate depositions in the case next week. The settlement means that sworn testimony is no longer required.”
ABC News, like other mainstream news networks, has been consistently hostile to Trump since he entered the political arena.
But perhaps they will rethink their approach in the wake of their massive payout.
Other news outlets like the Washington Post have already made efforts to be more moderate in their reporting on Trump since his decisive win.
