There is trouble brewing within the Democrat Party.

You won’t be surprised who is in the middle of this storm.

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatened this Nancy Pelosi ally and now all hell has broken loose.

As Black Eye Politics reports:

A special master in New York redrew the state’s congressional map and it is a disaster for the Democrats.

Because New York lost a congressional seat in the latest census the maps for 27 districts were condensed into just 26.

That led to a new map with as many as five races pitting two incumbent Democrats drawn into the same district running against each other in the primary.

One of those Democrats looking for a new district was Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney who is looking to run against Democrat freshman Mondaire Jones.

But there is a huge problem.

Jones is a huge ally of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

And Ocasio-Cortez responded to the news by demanding that Congressman Maloney resign as chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee if he was going to challenge another incumbent Democrat in the primary.

“I don’t think he should be DCCC chair if he’s going to challenge another member. It’s completely inappropriate,” Ocasio-Cortez declared.

Maloney would be loath to forfeit a plum position such as Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman.

That role – even in a year when Democrats figure to get pasted – exposes members to the donor class and allows them to expand their network of high-dollar contributors for a future run for higher office.

This is the last distraction Nancy Pelosi needs.

Polls show a red wave building and the midterm election is less than six months away.

The last thing the Democrats need is a change at the top.

So in Pelosi’s weekly press conference the speaker tried to play dumb.

“I’m not getting involved in the politics of New York and redistricting. [Maloney] as well as other members of the New York delegation said they were going to run in districts where their home is. They’ll find out what district that is on Friday when the announcement is made,” Pelosi began.

Pelosi did offer Maloney praise for his work in the role as DCCC chairman.

“We have a great chairman of the DCCC. He’s a master of the three Ms: the mobilization, own the ground to get out the vote; the message that is non-menacing that fuels the get out the vote; and the money, resources needed to do that,” Pelosi added.

Pelosi then passed the buck to the Democrat caucus telling the press to leave her alone about the issue as the DCCC chairman is decided by a vote of the Democrats in the House.

“He has worked very hard. I’m very proud of the work that he’s done. He is elected by the members. He’s not appointed by the speaker. He’s elected by the members. Welcome to our world. Have you heard any complaints about me and politics? We don’t agonize, we organize,” Pelosi concluded.

Democrats are already facing a dispirited base heading into November.

Ocasio-Cortez making noise about the chair of the DCCC stabbing a radical left member of Congress in the back will only further enrage the rank-and-file socialists the Democrats are begging to turn out and vote.
