Former Vice President Joe Biden was counting on his association with Barack Obama to carry him to the Democrat Party nomination.
But now all hell is breaking loose.
And that’s because Barack Obama made one decision that was the final nail in Joe Biden’s coffin.
As Black Eye Politics reports:
Since announcing his bid for president, Joe Biden has had to struggle with the fact that his former boss, Barack Obama, hasn’t yet endorsed him.
President Trump has even mocked him for this.
“How [former Vice President Biden] doesn’t get President Obama to endorse him — there has to be some reason why he’s not endorsing him,” Trump told Hill.TV in June.
In response, Biden has tried to claim that the lack of endorsement is actually because he doesn’t want it.
“I asked President Obama not to endorse and he doesn’t want to — whoever wins this nomination should win it on their own merits,” Biden said.
But a series of reports claim that Obama never wanted Biden to run and that he begged him not to.
According to the New York Times, Obama told Biden, “You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t.”
It seems as though Obama’s lack of endorsement is entirely the former President’s decision.
And it isn’t for any reason besides the fact that he doesn’t want Biden to be president.
Obama hasn’t been shy with his endorsements.
During the 2018 midterm elections, he handed it out to dozens of Democrats.
And he is even getting involved in throwing his voice around in foreign elections.
Many of his top campaign staffers got involved in the Israeli elections in an attempt to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
And Obama just threw his endorsement behind Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“I was proud to work with Justin Trudeau as President,” Obama said in a tweet. “He’s a hard-working, effective leader who takes on big issues like climate change. The world needs his progressive leadership now, and I hope our neighbors to the north support him for another term.”
Trudeau is extremely far-left and dealing with a difficult election where conservatives may finally take over.
So Obama’s endorsement is big news for Trudeau.
Obama is very popular in Canada, like he is in many left-wing countries.
He spent eight years letting countries like Canada abuse the United States with unfair trade deals, so that isn’t very surprising.
But it is likely very surprising to Biden that Obama would get involved in a foreign election before he would endorse him.
For eight years Biden was side by side with Obama, with the two even referring to themselves as best friends.
But Biden’s most appealing quality for Vice President seems to be that he was too old to pursue a presidential run after leaving his position.
In 2008, it is reported that Biden assured Obama aides that they “would never have to worry” about him using his position to torpedo himself into a presidential run.
Do you think Joe Biden could beat President Trump?
