Donald Trump and Mike Pence are likely rivals for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

But now Pence and Trump are joined in controversy,

And Donald Trump had a surprising reaction to Mike Pence turning over evidence to the FBI.

As Great American Daily reports:

The latest twist in Joe Biden’s stolen classified document scandal involves Mike Pence.

After searches turned up six different sets of stolen classified documents in Joe Biden’s possession — with materials dating back to his time in the U.S. Senate — Mike Pence’s lawyers decided to do a search of their own.

And on January 19 Pence’s lawyers found 12 documents with classified markings in Pence’s home.

Pence’s lawyer, Greg Jacob, wrote that they found “a small number of documents” that “were inadvertently boxed and transported” to Pence’s home when Pence left the vice president’s residence in January 2021.

Jacob added that these documents were now in FBI custody.

Pence possessing classified documents undermined Pence’s earlier attacks on Donald Trump after the Mar-a-Lago raid.

In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Pence — who is likely to challenge Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination — blasted Trump having documents in a locked room in Mar-a-Lago as “not proper.”

“I’ve not hesitated to criticize the president when I think he was wrong. And clearly, possessing classified documents in an unprotected area is not proper,” Pence stated.

Pence doubled down in a subsequent interview with ABC’s David Muir comparing himself favorably to Trump saying that he never took classified documents upon leaving office.

“I did not,” Pence said in response to Muir asking if there were any classified documents in his possession.

Pence then claimed Trump acted irresponsibly.

“Well, there’d be no reason to have classified documents, particularly if they were in an unprotected area,” Pence added.

In January, Pence again claimed to have followed rules for handling classified documents by the book.

“I received the presidential daily brief at the vice president’s residence. I’d rise early. I’d go to the safe where my military aide would place those classified materials. I’d pull them out, review them. I’d receive a presentation to them. And then, frankly, more often than not, Larry, would simply return them back to the file that I’d receive them in. They went in commonly, into what was called a burn bag that my military aide would gather and then destroy those classified materials. Same goes [for] materials that I would receive at the White House,” Pence declared.

Despite the falling out and the likelihood that the two will face off for the 2024 GOP nomination Trump defended Pence and praised his integrity in a post on Truth Social.

“Mike Pence is an innocent man. He never did anything knowingly dishonest in his life. Leave him alone!!!” Trump wrote.

Pence turning over classified documents to the FBI that he should not have been in possession of is the latest monkey wrench in Joe Biden’s plan to prosecute Donald Trump over having classified materials at Mar-a-Lago.

Bringing charges against Trump was already a near impossibility due to Joe Biden stealing classified documents for decades.

But now that Pence turned over classified documents his team mistakenly packed up, any indictment of Trump would come across as nakedly political.
