Adam Schiff was playing with fire.
Now Schiff finally got burned.
And Adam Schiff wanted to keep this dirty laundry hidden away for good.
As West Wing Daily reports:
It turns out that Adam Schiff’s change in tone after Trump got elected in November will go down as nothing more than a strange footnote in history, if it is remembered at all.
He led people to believe that he might not be as harsh on the Trump administration this time around and could even try to work with Trump on certain things.
But as soon as it became clear that Trump was serious about keeping his promises, Schiff went right back to the attack dog role that he had carved out for himself during Trump’s first term.
His latest target is Elon Musk, who has caused major controversy by his efforts to reform the federal government.
Schiff is not happy with what Musk is doing, and he has delivered a threatening letter that suggests Musk may be violating the law.
He warned Musk that he is watching him and is apparently willing to rat him out for anything Schiff considers to be illegal.
According to The Guardian, “The California senator Adam Schiff has demanded answers about Elon Musk’s potential conflicts of interest in his role leading the ‘department of government efficiency’ (Doge), as evidence grows of his complex business relationship with agencies now facing cuts.
“In a Monday letter to the White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, Schiff accused Musk of operating in a legal grey zone, noting that as a ‘special government employee’ Musk is subject to strict conflict-of-interest regulations while retaining ‘significant financial interests in multiple private companies that benefit from federal government contracts.’”
Suggesting that Musk is operating in a “legal gray zone” implies that there’s a real chance that he is violating the law.
This raises the question of what actions Schiff would want to take against Musk if he determines that he is breaking the law.
The article continues, “The controversy centers on Musk’s dual role as a government official and CEO of companies under federal scrutiny, including Starlink, a satellite internet service operated by Musk’s SpaceX. Most notably, USAid was investigating Starlink’s operations in Ukraine just months before Musk, as Doge chief, moved to dismantle the agency.
“USAid inspector general Paul K Martin confirmed to Congress in September that the agency was looking into its oversight of Starlink terminals provided to Ukraine.”
It’s clear that Schiff is no longer looking to have any productive working relationship with the White House and has instead turned back into an attack dog who is making serious accusations.
This is very similar to what he did during Trump’s first term, when he constantly beat the “Russiagate” drum despite the fact that many of his claims turned out not to be true.
Now that Trump is back, apparently Schiff views him as a foil once again and is turning right back into his old self by attacking Trump and his allies.
