Jack Smith and Kamala Harris found a new way to wage lawfare against Donald Trump.

This is the latest example of election interference.

And Donald Trump got blindsided by these new criminal charges.

Jack Smith Reignites the Lawfare Against Donald Trump

The news coverage of Trump’s trials has died out a bit, as it has become clear that Democrats won’t accomplish their goal of imprisoning him before Election Day.

However, the legal fights they are imposing on him are still very real, as Jack Smith made clear with his latest move.

Smith may not get his wish of seeing Trump behind bars before November, but he still has his sights set on putting Trump in jail.

He has launched a fresh new attack on Trump with a new indictment that will once again bring Trump’s legal battles front and center.

He is attempting to get around the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity which threw a wrench in his plans.

And he is doing everything he can to make sure Trump is punished, despite all the evidence that he does not belong in jail.

Smith Reworks Charges to Get Around Supreme Court

According to Politico, “A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. has reindicted Donald Trump on four felony charges related to his effort to subvert the 2020 presidential election.

“The 36-page indictment, secured Tuesday by special counsel Jack Smith, is an attempt by prosecutors to streamline the case against Trump to address the Supreme Court’s ruling last month that concluded presidents enjoy sweeping immunity from prosecution for their official conduct.”

The Supreme Court’s ruling presented a major problem for Democrats, as it gave Trump’s team of attorneys a new line of defense against the charges.

But Smith apparently is not giving up so easily, and he is reworking things to try to get around the Supreme Court’s ruling.

The article continues, “The new indictment removes some specific allegations against Trump but contains the same four criminal charges, including conspiracy to defraud the United States. It’s a signal that Smith believes the high court’s immunity decision doesn’t pose a major impediment to convicting the former president.”

“The development is unlikely to alter the reality that a trial in the case before the November election looks impossible. In fact, the new indictment could drag the case out further — defense attorneys often seek delays after prosecutors revise criminal allegations.”

Smith clearly no longer believes there is any chance of getting Trump sentenced and jailed before the election in November.

But he certainly is looking to punish Trump in the event that he loses, which is what the Democratic Party is trying to achieve.

He knows that the Supreme Court’s decision poses a problem, but he is confident that he can get around it with some tweaks.

That’s why he is putting forward this new indictment in the latest set of legal attacks on Donald Trump.

Whether Jack Smith manages to succeed will be up to a jury, but he is apparently not going to rest until he sees his arch-nemesis in jail.
