Nancy Pelosi’s Retirement Talk Accelerated After This Meeting

Speculation swirled around Washington that this was Nancy Pelosi’s final term in Congress.

The rumors are getting harder to dismiss.

And Nancy Pelosi’s retirement talk accelerated after this meeting.

As American Patriot Daily reports:

Nancy Pelosi’s legislative strategy lies in ruins and it could end her career under a cloud of failure.

West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin was among the big government cheerleaders in the U.S. Senate that negotiated a so-called $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that served as a Trojan Horse for the Marxist Green New Deal.

Democrats hoped to use the 19 Republican votes for that spending binge as political cover for Manchin and other swing seat Democrats to support a massive $3.5 trillion socialist bill through the reconciliation process – to avoid a GOP filibuster – designed to push America one step closer to becoming a country like Venezuela or Cuba.

Nancy Pelosi specifically linked the two bills together in order to keep moderates and socialists on board with the process.

But socialists in the House like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar refused to support the $1.2 trillion bill unless they got assurances from Manchin that he would back the $3.5 trillion cradle-to-grave socialist welfare state bill.

Manchin threw cold water on that idea.

The West Virginia Democrat told reporters he would support no more than $1.5 trillion in socialist spending and that he would not commit to voting for the reconciliation bill in order for socialists in the House to support the so-called “infrastructure” bill.

Manchin told the press if Ocasio-Cortez and other leftists did not like it, they could go and try and win more elections in 2022 and 2024.

“We only have 50 votes. Basically take whatever we aren’t able to come to an agreement with today and take that on the campaign trail next year, and I’m sure that they’ll get many more liberal progressive Democrats with what they say they want… I’ve never been a liberal in any way, shape or form. There’s no one that’s ever thought I was… I don’t fault any of them who believe that they’re much more progressive and much more liberal, God bless them. And all they need to do is, we have to elect more, I guess for them to get theirs, elect more liberals. But I’m not asking them to change. I’m willing to come from zero to 1.5,” Manchin concluded.

Manchin also dumped on Pelosi’s strategy of linking the two bills together.

“No two bills should ever be linked together to the point where you’re going to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Never. I’ve been around for an awful long time in state, and now in federal politics, and that should never be the case,” Manchin added.

This crushed Nancy Pelosi who later that day called the reconciliation bill the “culmination.”

The culmination usually signifies the end.

And for months rumors floated around Washington that Pelosi would retire after the midterm election.

There is no path for Pelosi to pass $3.5 trillion in new socialist spending and Democrats were counting on that money as their firewall in the 2022 midterms.

Should Democrats scale back their ambitions or both bills die because moderate and socialist Democrats can’t get on the same page, it could lead to depressed turnout and Pelosi slinking out of Congress on the heels of another massive defeat.
