Republicans May Have Cover to Defund PBS and NPR

The media has been lying about Donald Trump for eight years.

But now the press may be experiencing some comeuppance.

And two liberal media outlets got caught red-handed in this awful scandal.

As American Media Watchdog reports:

For decades, conservatives seethed as their tax dollars funded the state media leftwing propaganda networks NPR and PBS.

PBS and NPR would always escape the calls for defunding once the media attacked Republicans for wanting to take away Big Bird.

NPR takes in about $90 million in taxpayer money through a sleight of hand where local stations that want to broadcast programs like “All Things Considered” pay NPR with the money given to them from the federal government through the 1967 Public Broadcasting Act.

But NPR and PBS recently made a mistake that could open the way for Donald Trump to defund these pro-Democrat Party communication shops that also gives Republicans in Congress the appropriate legal and political cover.

That’s because, in a letter to executives at NPR and PBS, Trump’s appointed head of the Federal Communications Commission Brendan Carr informed NPR they may be in violation of the law for recognizing advertisers on the air.

“To the extent that these taxpayer dollars are being used to support a for-profit endeavor or an entity that is airing commercial advertisements, then that would further undermine any case for continuing to fund NPR and PBS with taxpayer dollars,” Carr stated.

Carr warned NPR and PBS that there was no reason to provide both networks with taxpayer money if they were easily able to sell commercial time.

“For your awareness, I will be providing a copy of this letter to relevant Members of Congress because I believe this FCC investigation may prove relevant to an ongoing legislative debate. In particular, Congress is actively considering whether to stop requiring taxpayers to subsidize NPR and PBS programming. For my own part, I do not see a reason why Congress should continue sending taxpayer dollars to NPR and PBS given the changes in the media marketplace since the passage of the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967,” Carr added.

The leftwing bias at these networks is out of control.

In 2023, NPR Uri Berliner published a bombshell piece at the Free Press describing how, behind the scenes, NPR existed to advance the Democrat Party’s agenda.

Berliner wrote that his colleagues at NPR openly said they wouldn’t cover the Hunter Biden laptop story during the 2024 election because it would help Donald Trump.

“During a meeting with colleagues, I listened as one of NPR’s best and most fair-minded journalists said it was good we weren’t following the laptop story because it could help Trump,” Berliner wrote.

Berliner also revealed that NPR contributed to the media coverup of the origins of COVID by discounting the lab leak theory.

In his Free Press essay, Berliner wrote that “we[NPR] introduced our coverage of that development on February 28, 2023, by asserting confidently that “the scientific evidence overwhelmingly points to a natural origin for the virus.”

Donald Trump has racked up some of the most significant victories ever by a Republican President – like ending Roe v. Wade and DEI in government just to name two – and Trump may be able to add to that list of historic achievement by defunding NPR and PBS.
