Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump are rivals.

But DeSantis took everyone by surprise.

Ron DeSantis took Donald Trump by surprise with this curveball no one saw coming.

As Great American Daily reports:

The Durham report detailed how Hillary Clinton approved her campaign inventing the Russian collusion narrative.

FBI and Obama administration officials knew this was the case yet proceeded to open an investigation into Trump based on this phony theory everyone knew originated from the Clinton campaign.

The report confirmed what Donald Trump said for years was true — that Democrats and the Deep State teamed up to try and bring down his presidency using a hoax that they dreamed up about Trump colluding with the Russians.

Even though Ron DeSantis is Donald Trump’s chief rival for the GOP nomination DeSantis strongly defended Trump in the wake of the Durham report.

“The Durham Report confirmed what we already knew: weaponized federal agencies manufactured a false conspiracy theory about Trump-Russia collusion. It reminds us of the need to clean house at these agencies, as they’ve never been held accountable for this egregious abuse of power,” DeSantis wrote on Twitter.

DeSantis doubled down decrying the fact that none of the conspirators who tried to undermine American democracy with this hoax ended up in prison.

DeSantis then pivoted to try and draw a contract with Trump explaining that if he won the presidency in 2024 then he would fire everyone at the top levels of the FBI.

“What I would do is clean house top to bottom in these agencies,” DeSantis stated before adding, “Why don’t we have change at the FBI?”

DeSantis also took vindication from the Durham report.

“I was right,” DeSantis said of how he would defend Trump from the Mueller witch hunt while in Congress.

DeSantis recounted how the investigation into Russian collusion was nothing more than “trying to kneecap an administration.”

When in Congress DeSantis offered amendments to funding bills that would defund the Mueller probe.

“Congress should use its spending power to clarify the scope and limit the duration of this investigation. Rosenstein has said that the DOJ doesn’t conduct fishing expeditions; the corollary to this admonition should be that Congress will not fund a fishing expedition,” a statement from DeSantis’s congressional office declared.

DeSantis explained how his up-close view of the FBI trying to overturn an election based on a hoax forever altered how he viewed the Bureau as well as the broader intelligence community that participated in this coup attempt.

“I thought they were professional,” DeSantis concluded. “But to see the lack of accountability and the gross abuse of power, it changed how I view this whole apparatus going forward.”
