Many Republicans want Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to run for president in two years.

DeSantis addressed the speculation.

And Ron DeSantis went on Fox News and dropped a shocking 2024 announcement.

As Black Eye Politics reports:

Polls show that Ron DeSantis is the only Republican with any traction in a 2024 primary against Donald Trump.

These same polls also show that DeSantis starts out in the pole position in the GOP presidential primary if Donald Trump does not run for president.

DeSantis built a national profile by rejecting mask mandates and banning vaccine passports.

And DeSantis also struck a blow against wokeism by stripping Disney of its special privileges after Disney tried to bully DeSantis into rejecting legislation banning teachers from grooming young children into transgenderism with sexualized school curriculum.

The co-hosts of “Fox and Friends” tried to put DeSantis on the spot regarding 2024 but DeSantis would not bite.

“Let’s cut the small talk. 2022’s coming up, 2024. We know President Trump is considering a run we know your name is atop that list as well. Where does that all sit in your mind right now?” co-host Pete Hegseth asked.

“It just sits when people bring up my name. We’ve got a lot going on,” DeSantis shot back.

Hegseth tried a second time mentioning how DeSantis’ re-election campaign was selling “Top Gun” merchandise as a takeoff on the wildly popular film “Top Gun: Maverick.”

“You should see Top Gun, it’s amazing. Genuinely curious, if he runs do you run? How do you make that decision?” Hegseth wondered.

Again, DeSantis would not bite.

“Nice try,” DeSantis replied. “We’re having fun here. It’s all good.”

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt got DeSantis to offer the most interesting answer when she asked “When will you announce or most candidates announce? Not until after midterms?”

DeSantis did not deny that he was running for president in 2024, a clear tell that he was contemplating the idea.

“I have no idea. At the end of the day, the interesting thing about me is people always inject my name into it just based on what I’m doing in Florida. And so, you know, we’ve really gotten more notoriety not because I’m out trying to do that just because I’m getting things done for people in my state,” DeSantis answered.

This interview came in the wake of a Washington Post story reporting that DeSantis’ wife, Casey, supposedly wants Ron DeSantis to run for president in two years.

The Washington Post reports:

DeSantis has been quietly building his fundraising networks while grabbing national headlines for his challenges to the Biden administration and for his focus on culture war issues. Without mentioning Trump, he has told donors, “No one’s nomination is inevitable,” according to a person to whom his comments have been relayed.

Beating Trump’s 2020 margin of three percentage points in Florida has become a key campaign goal, according to three people familiar with the conversations. They said DeSantis’s wife, Casey, a former television host and among a small circle of confidants, wants him to run for president.

The Post story also referenced the massive $125 million war chest DeSantis amassed, which stuck out because no one raises that much money to run for statewide office.

DeSantis raking in over one hundred million dollars in 2022 is a flex to demonstrate to the GOP that DeSantis can raise the money necessary to finance a national campaign.

Ron DeSantis is one of the most popular Republicans in the country.

And all the signs point to the fact that DeSantis is likely to run for president in 2024 no matter what Donald Trump decides to do.
