Rush Limbaugh’s passing was a major event in American media.
Limbaugh helped build the modern conservative movement.
And Democrats reaction to Rush Limbaugh’s death crossed a line no one thought was possible.
As Great American Daily reports:
Rush Limbaugh died at the age of 70 due to complications from lung cancer.
After Limbaugh died, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced flags in the state would fly at half-staff in honor of Sunshine State resident Limbaugh.
“There’s not much that needs to be said, the guy was an absolute legend,” Governor DeSantis said in explaining the decision to lower the flags in the state to half-staff. “He was a friend of mine and just a great person.”
Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried is the only elected statewide Democrat.
And Fried is talked about as the biggest-name challenger the Democrats can field to challenge Governor DeSantis when he runs for re-election in 2022.
With that all in mind, Fried sent an email to the offices under her purview and announced that she would not comply with Governor DeSantis’ order to lower the flags in the state to half-staff.
But Fried made it clear this was about 2022 politics and not really any principle by spouting off the tired left-wing talking points that Limbaugh was a racist, sexist hatemonger in order to raise her profile with the liberal base.
“Lowering to half-staff the flag of the United States of America is a sacred honor that pays respect to fallen heroes and patriots. It is not a partisan political tool,” Fried wrote. “Therefore, I will notify all state offices under my direction to disregard the Governor’s forthcoming order to lower flags for Mr. Limbaugh – because we will not celebrate hate speech, bigotry, and division. Lowering the flag should always reflect unity, not division, and raising our standards, not lowering them. Our flags will remain flying high to celebrate the American values of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all.”
Democrats are in a panic about Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis rejected mask mandates and rejected calls to put Florida in lockdown.
Instead businesses are open and Florida hosted the Super Bowl and Daytona 500 with tens of thousands of fans in the stands which proved the coronavirus hysterics were lying when they claimed Florida was inviting another spike in cases.
DeSantis maintained an approval rating of over 50 percent while dismissing lockdown demands from the COVID-19 hysterics in the Democrat media and so-called “public health experts.”
Republicans have also taken note of DeSantis’ willingness to punch back when the Democrat media smacks with gotcha questions or tries to smear him with manufactured scandals.
If Ron DeSantis wins re-election by a convincing margin, the political importance of Florida would catapult him to the top tier of the 2024 presidential campaign.
Democrats want to strangle his campaign in the crib.
The Democrat media kicked into overdrive trying to smear him, with NBC taking the cake attacking DeSantis for prioritizing Holocaust survivors and senior citizens.
Democrats are hoping that Fried—if she can’t beat DeSantis—can damage his political future in a bruising and expensive 2022 matchup.
And the dustup over lowering the flag to half-staff after Limbaugh’s death is the initial skirmish in this fight.
