Donald Trump is in the final stages of his running mate selection process.
It’s a choice that will shape the trajectory of the 2024 election.
A Trump VP pick faced this unthinkable decision.
As 2024 Battleground reports:
Donald Trump is looking for a running mate who will be loyal to him and his agenda.
Former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is among the final few candidates who agrees with Trump’s America First foreign policy.
Since the 2016 campaign, Trump’s biggest fights with the swamp has been over foreign policy.
The Russia collusion hoax grew out of his refusal to fight World War 3 with Russia over Syria.
The Ukraine impeachment hoax occurred because seditious bureaucrats in the CIA and the National Security Council thought they knew better than Trump what America’s policy should be vis-a-vis Ukraine and Russia.
Gabbard is an Iraq War veteran who opposes the war in Ukraine and who has privately met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago to discuss staffing the Pentagon with America First conservatives in a potential second Trump administration.
But being high on Trump’s running mate list means having to deal with media ‘gotcha’ questions.
British journalist Piers Morgan tried to trip up Gabbard in an interview by grilling her with irrelevant questions about South Dakota Governor Kirsti Noem who had revealed in her book that she killed her dog, Cricket, by blowing its brains out after Cricket proved violent and untrainable as a hunting dog.
“If, as many people would like you to be, you end up being vice president to President Trump– I mean first of all, would you accept the job if you were offered it?” Morgan began in his questioning.
“I would. I would,” Gabbard replied. “I’d be honored to serve my country in that way.”
Then Morgan turned to the dog killing questions.
“You’re up against other people to be potential vice president, one of whom is Kristi Noem, who’s just got a new book out too. My difficult question is this: Tulsi Gabbard, have you ever killed a dog?” Morgan asked Gabbard.
“No. Unequivocally. No.” Gabbard answered.
That wasn’t enough for Morgan.
“Do you think killing dogs and then boasting about it in your book disqualifies you to be a potential VP?” Morgan asked.
Gabbard wanted to avoid any attacks on a politician whose support she could potentially need, so she gave a common sense answer and said the only opinion that matters is that of the voters.
“You know, I’ve known Kristi for a long time. We served in Congress together. I haven’t spoken to her about this. I’ve heard her argument for it. She made the decision to put this story in her book, she’s talking about it, there are other things that are coming out in the news about it. Look, she is an adult, she’s a former member of Congress, she’s the governor of one of our 50 states. She has the opportunity to make her case to the American people,” Gabbard stated.
That wasn’t the answer Morgan was hoping for as he was trying to elicit an embarrassing response from Gabbard that would’ve either appeared to defend Noem – or one that directly attacked Noem – so the media could play-up infighting within the GOP.
“You haven’t actually answered that question,” Morgan shot back. “You haven’t answered my question whether it’s disqualifying to go around murdering dogs.”
But Gabbard held her ground and displayed a media savvy that could only make her a valuable asset on the Trump ticket.
“Really, that is my answer to your question. This is my point. Voters get to choose. Voters get to choose. I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t go and kill a puppy named Cricket. I just wouldn’t do it,” Gabbard firmly concluded.
