Conservatives thought they could trust Sean Hannity.
But one major development has everyone asking questions.
And Sean Hannity threw one ally under the bus for this sad reason.

After Democrat Governor Andy Beshear won re-election, Democrats flipped control of the Virginia House of Delegates and leftists passed a ballot initiative in Ohio to impose abortion on demand up until birth, the media narrative surrounding the night was that Democrats won big riding a wave of backlash to the GOP’s so-called “abortion extremism.”
That’s not surprising as the media is completely invested in the cause of unregulated, unlimited, taxpayer-funded abortion.
But what was a shock was the fact that titans of the conservative media eagerly repeated this spin.
Ann Coulter posted an article on her Substack smearing the pro-life movement as the Republican equivalent of the anti-police movement that sprung up in the Democrat Party after the death of George Floyd and cost the party 14 House seats in that November’s election.
“’Pro-life’ is the ‘Defund the Police’ of the GOP” was the headline of Coulter’s piece.
Coulter then absurdly called on conservatives to drop the issue rather than continue to cost the GOP elections.
“It turns out (no matter what they tell pollsters or their neighbors) the people LOVE abortion. They want no restrictions. None. Not the tiniest little imposition,” Coulter wrote.
“Fellow pro-lifers: This is the ‘change hearts and minds’ part of the battle, not the ‘force Republicans to keep losing elections’ part,” Coulter added.
Even Sean Hannity got into the act claiming Republicans needed to adopt a compromise position of protecting life after 15 weeks, a standard by which 90 percent of abortions would still occur.
“If we’re really gonna be honest about this – and I consider myself pro-life, but I understand that’s not where the country is – I would say first trimester, 15 weeks seems to be where the country is,” Hannity stated. “And these issues will be decided by the states.”
Republicans in Virginia – led by establishment GOP Governor Glenn Youngkin – tried this path and Democrats still pummeled Republicans with TV ads calling them extremists.
In a column written before the election, former Trump press secretary Sean Spicer warned Virginia Republicans that tacking to the middle in a defensive posture with the 15-week pro-life bill ceded the playing field to Democrats.
“This is the wrong approach. It cedes the emotional storytelling to the Democrats, negates the logical underpinnings of the pro-life arguments, and alienates voters on both sides of the abortion issue. Why, in the wake of one of the most significant Supreme Court victories of our lifetime, would Republicans speak from a position of weakness and not strength?” Spicer wrote.
Spicer argued the better play for Republicans was to go on offense like they did in the 2016 and 2021 elections and blast Democrats for being pro-abortion zealots supporting terminating the lives of babies up until the moment of birth.
Trump defeated Hillary Clinton and Youngkin became the first Republican since 2009 to win the Virginia governor’s mansion because they followed that playbook.
And Republicans who want to win elections should look to what worked instead of falling for Coulter and Hannity’s call for surrender on the issue.
