AOC Spelled Out One Revenge Plot Her Own 2024 Words Can’t Survive

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants Democrats to grab both chambers of Congress in November.

She already has a to-do list. Subpoenas, investigations, and maybe courtrooms for President Trump’s top law enforcement officials.

But one speech she gave in the Bronx in 2024 makes her new crusade awfully hard to swallow.

AOC Hauls Her Subpoena Wish List Up to Maine

US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) traveled to Portland, Maine, in late October to campaign for Troy Jackson, the Democrat Senate candidate trying to unseat US Senator Susan Collins (R-ME).

Someone in the audience asked about election integrity. AOC took the question and ran straight at the Justice Department and the FBI.

“First and foremost, everything that we are seeing unfold right now is an absolute weaponization of the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, point blank period,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Then she offered the crowd a little civics lesson. She told them “it has been standing practice in order to protect the integrity of our elections that the FBI and the DOJ do not take actions like these within a certain time frame of an election, regardless of what is happening in any circumstance of an investigation.”

Remember that rule. It comes back later.

She accused FBI Director Kash Patel of having “purged the FBI of many serious investigators.” And she slammed the federal cases involving New York Attorney General Letitia James and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell as “absolute groundless indictments.”

But the real show came at the end.

“Day one, we need to be opening investigations into the heads of every single one of these agencies, and we need to hold them accountable. I’m talking subpoenas. I’m talking investigations. I’m talking, if necessary, and if the evidence leads us there, to court,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“Because I don’t care if you are a criminal on Main Street or a criminal on Pennsylvania Avenue. Everyone must be held to the same standard and rule of law. And we will never get our country back if we allow criminals to have cabinet seats in the United States of America,” she continued.

No prosecutor anywhere has charged a member of President Trump’s cabinet with a crime. And that tiny detail didn’t slow her down for a second.

The Bronx Victory Lap AOC Hopes Everybody Forgot

Go back to the spring of 2024.

A Manhattan jury had just convicted Donald Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records in the case Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg built around a hush money payment. Plenty of legal analysts called the theory a stretch, since Bragg had to inflate stale misdemeanors into felonies by pointing to a second crime he never charged.

AOC didn’t see a stretch. She saw a party.

“He was found guilty on all 34 counts,” she told a town hall crowd in the Bronx, according to a New York Post report. “The rule of law applies to everyone.”

She waved off any suggestion of a partisan prosecution, too. “Donald Trump was convicted by a jury of his peers,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Read that middle line one more time. Then go back to her line in Maine about holding everyone to “the same standard and rule of law.” Same woman, same slogan, pointed in exactly the opposite direction.

And the Manhattan case was only one piece of the 2024 dogpile.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Jack Smith in November 2022 to run the classified documents investigation and the January 6 investigation. Smith rushed constitutionally dubious charges against Trump and pressed for a trial in Democrat-run Washington, DC, a city where Joe Biden took more than 92 percent of the vote in 2020. Millions of Americans saw the plan for what it looked like: a show trial designed to put the Republican frontrunner behind bars before Election Day.

Smith had a track record, too. He ran the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section when it went after former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, and the US Supreme Court threw out that conviction unanimously in 2016.

His operation didn’t stop with Trump either. US Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released records in 2025 showing the FBI grabbed phone toll records belonging to eight Republican Senators as part of the Arctic Frost probe that fed into Smith’s work. Call it what it was. That’s a prosecutor fishing through the whole Republican Party.

The Supreme Court Already Weighed In on Real Weaponization

On July 1, 2024, the Supreme Court handed down Trump v. United States. The justices held that a President enjoys absolute immunity for his core constitutional powers and presumptive immunity for official acts. They wiped out the portion of Smith’s Washington case built on Trump’s conversations with his own Justice Department.

Justice Clarence Thomas, the most consistent originalist on the bench, went a step further. His concurrence questioned whether Garland had any lawful authority to appoint Smith in the first place. Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the classified documents case on exactly that ground on July 15, 2024.

So how did AOC handle a Supreme Court ruling that knocked the legs out from under the case against Trump?

“Today’s ruling represents an assault on American democracy,” she wrote on X. “I intend on filing articles of impeachment upon our return.”

She followed through, filing articles of impeachment against Thomas and Justice Samuel Alito in July 2024. When the law went Trump’s way, she went after the referees.

AOC’s Election Calendar Rule Only Works One Way

Now about that “certain time frame” rule.

On October 2, 2024, Judge Tanya Chutkan unsealed a 165-page Smith filing stuffed with allegations against Trump. Voters were barely a month away from casting ballots. The press treated the document like an early Christmas present.

If AOC ever objected to the timing of Smith’s filing that fall, she kept it awfully quiet.

But here’s the funny part. The whole legal circus ended with a thud anyway. A Georgia appeals court tossed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis off her Trump case over her relationship with the special prosecutor she hired. Smith dropped both federal cases after voters sent Trump back to the White House in November 2024. Judge Juan Merchan closed out the Manhattan case with a sentence that carried no punishment at all.

So prosecuting the sitting President’s chief political rival was “the rule of law” in 2024. Investigating the people who ran that operation is “weaponization” in 2026. The only consistent principle in sight is who sits in the defendant’s chair.

And Patel’s so-called purge deserves a second look. This is the same FBI that the Justice Department’s own Inspector General caught making 17 significant errors and omissions in its applications to spy on the Trump campaign through FISA. A lot of Americans would call cleaning house at that bureau accountability. AOC calls it a crime scene.

There’s one more wrinkle worth noticing. According to CNN, AOC was answering a question about how a new Congress should respond if Republicans challenge the midterm results. Her answer had nothing to do with ballots. It had everything to do with subpoenas.

Democrats spent the 2018 campaign insisting impeachment wasn’t on the agenda. Then they won the House and impeached Trump over a Ukraine phone call, and later did it again over January 6, two partisan exercises dressed up as constitutional duty. AOC just skipped the pretending stage this time around.

Jackson, for his part, backs Medicare for All, according to The Washington Times, the single-payer scheme that would hand Washington control over every family’s doctor visits. Maine Republican Party Chair Jim Deyermond didn’t mince words about the pair. “AOC and Troy are extreme politicians,” he said.

But the line from Portland that will stick is the one about Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. AOC says the rule of law applies to everyone.

She just wants to be the one who decides who counts as everyone.
