Big Tech censorship is one of the Democrat Party’s major campaign advantages.
The scope of social media giants pressing their thumb down on the scale is now known.
But one of the biggest news apps in America apparently decided its readers were better off not knowing.
Seventy-Eight Stories Went In, Zero Came Out
The Media Research Center went hunting for one very specific kind of story. It turned up 78 of them across the wider press, every one dealing with the mountain of debt sitting on the DNC’s books.
And according to an MRC analysis first obtained by the New York Post, not a single one of those 78 stories cracked the top 20 on Apple News between January 1 and September 28, 2026.
That window closed roughly five weeks before the 2026 midterm elections. By that point, the DNC had been publicly drowning in red ink for close to a year.
MRC President David Bozell skipped the polite academic language.
“Apple isn’t curating the news,” Bozell said. “It’s running a high-tech protection racket for the political left.”
The study also flagged at least 14 debt stories from outlets Apple News normally can’t get enough of. The list reads like the establishment media’s own Rolodex: USA Today, the Guardian, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and Politico.
So nobody can chalk this up to a few right-leaning websites getting the cold shoulder. By the MRC’s count, even the New York Times couldn’t get a DNC debt story onto the top shelf.
Real People Picked These Headlines
Here’s the part that really stings. Apple News relies on human editors to choose many of the stories that land on its platform.
Google News and Microsoft’s MSN lean heavily on algorithms to sort their headlines. Apple went a different way.
That leaves Apple without the old excuse of a glitchy computer program. Somebody with a name and a desk looked at these stories and, if the MRC numbers hold up, kept passing them over month after month.
And a single slot on that list carries serious weight. Bozell told the Post that a story Apple promotes can pull anywhere from 1 million to 20 million page views.
“Our study found Apple News suppressing coverage of the Democratic Party’s fundraising woes while eagerly serving up stories damaging to Republicans,” Bozell told the Post.
Breitbart’s report on the study did not include any response from Apple.
The Democrat Money Pit Apple Readers Never Saw
So what exactly did Apple News users miss?
Late in 2025, the DNC pinned nearly $16 million in debt on the doomed 2024 Biden-Harris campaign. Harris’ presidential bid reportedly blew through around $1.5 billion before voters sent her packing.
The hole kept getting deeper. Breitbart reported that the committee’s debt reached $20.5 million at one point, and in October 2025 the DNC took out a $15 million loan to bankroll governor’s races.
The New York Times reported that the DNC rang in 2026 still carrying $17.5 million in debt.
But the Republican National Committee entered the same year with $230 million in the bank and no debt at all.
Picture the coverage if those numbers belonged to the other party. Cable news would have run the chyron for a week straight.
And the turmoil didn’t stay on the balance sheet. Breitbart previously reported that the money troubles fueled calls to oust DNC Chairman Ken Martin, who reportedly threw a phone at a junior aide’s desk in frustration.
Silicon Valley Has Run This Play Before
Bozell went straight at the double standard.
“For years, the media lectured Americans about ‘dirty money in politics’ whenever Republicans had the fundraising advantage,” he told the Post. “Now Democrats are facing a financial mess of their own making, and suddenly the story isn’t worth telling.”
Conservatives know this tune by heart. In October 2020, Twitter and Facebook throttled the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story in the final weeks before a presidential election, and Twitter locked the Post out of its own account. Jack Dorsey later admitted blocking the link was a mistake. Funny how those apologies always show up after the votes get counted.
Facebook banned posts suggesting COVID-19 came from a lab until May 2021. Then it quietly reversed course once the theory became respectable in polite company.
Now, a fair-minded reader might push back a little. Maybe Apple’s editors just found the DNC’s ledger dull. Debt stories rarely set the world on fire.
But 78 stories and zero placements over nine months is an awfully selective kind of boredom. Especially from editors who, according to the MRC, found plenty of room for bad news about Republicans.
Apple is a private company, and it can feature whatever it pleases. The First Amendment only restrains the government.
But millions of Americans open that app every morning thinking they’re getting a straight read on the day’s events. When a handful of editors quietly decide whose dirty laundry gets aired, they shape what voters know heading into an election. Nobody handed Apple a ballot for that job.
And the timing makes it harder to wave off. A party’s finances tell voters something real about how it runs its own house, and that’s information people deserve to see with the campaign season in full swing.
Election Day falls on November 3, 2026. Expect the MRC and other watchdogs to keep counting right up to the wire.
If the DNC’s money woes suddenly start appearing on Apple News now that someone has noticed, that will say plenty on its own.
