The swamp’s culture of corruption runs deep.

Americans want an end to the self-dealing.

And now this mystery Democrat is under criminal investigation.

As Great American Daily reports:

The Department of Justice issued a grand jury subpoena to a Democrat member of Congress on Monday.  However, they did not reveal who the subpoena was for or what charges were being investigated.

Reading Clerk Susan Cole read a brief message from House Sergeant at Arms William McFarland on the House floor on Monday.

“This is to notify you formally pursuant to Rule 8 of the rules of the House of Representatives that the Office of the Sergeant at Arms for the House of Representatives has been served with a grand jury subpoena for documents issued by the U.S. Department of Justice,” Cole relayed.

“After consulting with the Office of General Counsel, I have determined that compliance with the subpoena is consistent with the rights and privileges of the House,” she added before stating the communication was signed by McFarland.

It emerged on Tuesday that Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), a member of the far-left group known as “The Squad,” is under investigation over allegations of misuse of government funds.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Bush claimed she holds “my campaign, and my position to the highest levels of integrity.”

“I also believe in transparency which is why I can confirm that the Department of Justice is reviewing my campaign’s spending on security services,” she said.

“We are fully cooperating in this investigation, and I would like to take this opportunity to outline the facts and the truth,” she continued.

She added that “the Federal Election Commission and the House Committee on Ethics are currently reviewing the matter” as well.

In 2022, Bush reportedly married her security guard whom she had allegedly previously paid with campaign finances.

Bush said her husband had been “retained … as part of my security team to provide security services because he has had extensive experience in this area, and is able to provide the necessary services at or below a fair market rate.”

“I have not used any federal tax dollars for personal security services. Any reporting that I have used federal funds for personal security is simply false,” she said, adding, “I have complied with all applicable laws and House rules–and will continue to prioritize the rules that govern us as federal elected officials.”

Last year, ethics complaints against Bush were filed by the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) and the Committee to Defeat the President super-PAC alleging Bush paid her husband at least $60,000 with campaign funds in 2022.

“It appears Rep. Bush’s campaign may have made payments for services that were unnecessary or above fair market value because of her personal relationship with the payee,” FACT executive director Kendra Arnold wrote in the complaint.

“If so, these payments would qualify as either impermissible payments to a family member or an impermissible gift.”
