Donald Trump made one huge announcement about making Nikki Haley his VP.

The GOP establishment wants a restoration to Bush-era politics where the Republican Party works in service of the donor class by keeping the border open, supporting endless foreign wars and defending the swamp’s big-government gravy train.

If the Mitch McConnells and Mitt Romneys of the world can’t back the winning horse in the primary they decided on the next best option.
And that’s sneaking their handpicked puppet onto the ticket as Trump’s VP so when 2028 rolls around the establishment-friendly running mate starts the race as the frontrunner.
It was no coincidence that shortly after Trump’s romp in Iowa, pundits like Erick Erickson harkened back to 1980 when Ronald Reagan selected runner-up George H.W. Bush as his running mate to unite the party and suggested Trump do the same and pick Nikki Haley.
“In 1980, after a hard fought primary, Reagan picked George H. W. Bush as his running mate. It brought the party together — the moderates had run everybody they could to stop Reagan, including Bush. It makes sense for Trump to go with Haley as VP, like Reagan with Bush,” Erickson wrote.
Conservatives learned their lesson the hard way that putting the establishment favorite on the ticket as vice president is a surefire way to lose control of the party.
Bush won in 1988 on the coattails of the voters wanting a third term of Ronald Reagan.
Instead, Bush killed the Reagan revolution and put the country club RINOs back in charge by raising taxes, nominating liberal Supreme Court justices like David Souter and launching America’s decades-long involvement in the Middle East with the first Iraq War.
Trump supporters internalized that debacle and vehemently opposed the idea of Nikki Haley joining Trump on the ticket correctly surmising it would spell the end of the Trump movement.
“Nikki Haley must not become Trump’s VP candidate. Pro war Pro illegals Pro censorship Pro DC Uniparty Haley would single handedly drag down Trump enthusiasm 10-15% The base would revolt,” Turning Point USA founder and top Trump supporter Charlie Kirk posted on social media.
The Trump campaign knew it had a brushfire on its hands and spokeswoman Liz Harrington sought to douse it with cold water by telling independent journalist Emerald Robinson there was basically no chance Trump would pick the globalist RINO Haley as his vice president.
