Ron DeSantis’s struggling presidential campaign can’t catch its stride.

DeSantis attacked Donald Trump in a way no one ever expected.

And what Ron DeSantis just told Megyn Kelly will land him in deep trouble.

As American Patriot Daily reports:

DeSantis recently caused a stir when he mimicked a talking point developed by the January 6 committee that Donald Trump sat in the White House watching the events of January 6 unfold without lifting a finger to stop it.

This error further compounded when one of DeSantis’s top donors told NBC News that the DeSantis campaign strategy was to hope anti-Trump special counsel Jack Smith and other Democrat prosecutors bringing indictments against Trump forced Trump out of the race.

Megyn Kelly pressed DeSantis on this point in their interview.

DeSantis once again doubled down on trying to straddle the fence between blaming Donald Trump for January 6 to win over anti-Trump voters and to say Trump’s actions on that day were not criminal so DeSantis could still appeal to the Trump base.

“I think it’s well documented…his conduct. How he first sat there, could have obviously leaned in harder. Even his own kids were texting saying he needs to do more,” DeSantis stated.

It is a Liz Cheney talking point to say Trump allowed the rally on January 6 to get out of hand and devolve into a riot.

Conservatives were stunned that DeSantis would adopt this falsehood.

Donald Trump issued multiple tweets that day telling his supporters to remain peaceful and leave the Capitol.

“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!” Trump posted.

“Go home with love & in peace,” Trump later wrote.

Trump then posted a video on YouTube asking his supporters to immediately leave the Capitol and to go home.

Conservative journalist Julie Kelly – who is the number one reporter and source for information about what happened on January 6 – slammed DeSantis for using the January 6 committee’s narrative to go after Trump.

“Straight up talking points from Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, and Liz Cheney. And it’s inaccurate. What poor responses overall,” Kelly wrote in response to DeSantis’s comment.

Ron DeSantis is trailing badly in the polls and his fundraising is cratering.

DeSantis cannot afford continued communications gaffes in his free media efforts as those verbal slip-ups like the one with Megyn Kelly about Trump and January 6 are what will dominate the headlines.
