Joe Biden keeps pushing off his re-election kickoff announcement.
That’s leading to speculation Biden may not run for a second term.
However, Biden’s actions tell a different story.
Biden — seeing polls show that his highest approval rating since June is 42 percent — quickly tried to pivot to the center after two years of governing like a radical socialist.
In the last two weeks Biden agreed to sign a resolution passed by congressional Republicans to override a District of Columbia crime bill that lowered the penalties for violent crimes such as carjacking.
And now there are reports that Biden is looking to reinstate Trump’s immigration policies that ended “catch and release.”
Biden is reportedly considering reinstating the policy of detaining families after they are caught crossing the border as opposed to letting them go on their merry way to live in America and hoping they show up for their immigration court dates.
Left-wing Democrats never loved Biden in the first place.
The socialist and woke base of the party only rallied to Biden after exhausting all other available options in the 2020 Democrat primary.
Woke liberals spent four years claiming Donald Trump promoted white supremacy because Trump believed in law and order and a secure border.
Now the left wing of the Party is freaking out over the fact that Joe Biden is going along with the very policies they described as the personification of systemic racism in America.
And the left is not happy.
MSNBC host Chris Hayes grilled White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Biden reimplementing Donald Trump’s border policies.
“There were reports that the White House was considering – or the Department Homeland Security was considering – reintroducing the practice of family detention,” Hayes began, saying Trump’s policy to end “catch and release” “was harshly criticized” by Biden during the 2020 campaign. “Is it true that that’s being considered?” Hayes asked.
Jean-Pierre ducked the question rather than pick a bigger fight with the left.
“So, what I want to be very clear here – and I’ve answered this question as you know, Chris, many times in the briefing room, and we as an administration have as well – we are not gonna certainly comment on rumors or conversations that are out there that people are reporting on,” Jean-Pierre stated. “Those are rumors. What we are going to promise is that we’re going to do this – we’re going to move forward with a, with this kind of system, immigration system, that has been gutted, really, truly gutted by the last administration.”
Hayes was not about to let the point drop and said this should be an easy “no” answer for Biden about reimposing the Trump order that ended “catch and release.”
“Just to follow up on that,” Hayes responded. “I think if I said, ‘Are you gonna do child separation again?’ you’d say, ‘No, we’re not gonna do child separation,’ right? I mean, so it just seems like you could say like, ‘We’re not gonna do family detention.’ But you’re not saying that, which is fine as far as it goes, but I just want to be clear.”
Once again, Jean-Pierre refused to answer.
“I think what you’re asking me, Chris, is to speak to rumors that are out there,” Jean-Pierre dodged. “And that is not something that we’re going to speak to any rumored conversation.”
Biden’s great fear is attracting a primary challenger.
Every president who attracted a serious primary challenger that could hold the president — at a minimum — to an embarrassing closer-than-expected primary contest lost re-election.
A recent Yahoo/YouGov poll found a plurality of Democrats — 48 percent — do not think Biden should serve a second term.
Even liberals know Biden is too old and senile to continue in office.
Former 2020 rival Marianne Williamson is already running against Biden.
But what the Biden campaign really fears is a younger Democrat who already has a profile running against Biden in the primary as an unabashed leftist.
Ted Kennedy’s primary challenge crippled Jimmy Carter in 1980.
Pat Buchanan mortally wounded George H.W. Bush in 1992.
The Biden team’s nightmare scenario is someone of that stature seeing an opening on the left and running against Biden just to make a point.
